Downtown Reimagined

Over the summer, local architects and designers teamed up to explore the possibilities of a reimagined downtown Santa Barbara. The result? The State Street Design Charrette. Among the ideas were skybridges, music pavilions, interactive art installations, waterworks, a river walk, and many more. While many of the concepts are cost-prohibitive and may be a bit fantastical, it's amazing to see what these folks have come up with!

Also affecting our downtown experience, the city council just approved robots (just kidding!) automated license plate readers to replace downtown parking kiosk workers. The transition is estimated to save the city approximately $1M per year and will take about a year to implement.
